Website Spotlight: Bloglovin'

So it's true, as of July 1st Google Friend Connect will leave us. So what does that mean for us bloggers and readers? We'll have to find another way to connect to our readers and with the blogs we love to follow. Thankfully, there are plenty of alternates to GFC and some are even better. One of those even better ways is through a site I'm sure many of you have heard of by now, Bloglovin'.

In the above picture, I took a screenshot of what my Bloglovin' feed looks like. In the main body you get a snippet of each new post that any blog you subscribe to puts up, much like GFC. The sidebar gives you ways in which to filter what posts show up in your feed. Bloglovin' also gives you the option of sorting the blogs you follow into categories. In my opinion, the Bloglovin' layout is much more eye-appealing and organized than that of GFC's, so for those of you who can't stand the clutter or chaos of GFC's appearance in your bottom-bar you might want to opt for Bloglovin'.

Bloglovin' also goes above and beyond the call of duty by making it easy to find and follow new blogs; I've included a sample screenshot below. They keep a running track of the most followed blogs via their site and compile that into a list, which makes it easy for an avid blog reader like myself to find new blogs and new inspiration. There's also a recommended list, where Bloglovin' suggests blogs that you may be interested in based on the kinds of blogs you already follow.

Bloglovin' also makes it easy for us bloggers to claim and monitor our blogs. You simply claim your blog via its URL and integrate a Bloglovin' button into your layout so they know that the blog is yours. No worries, you can always take out that button and create your own like I have in my sidebar. Needless to say, this is a great alternative to GFC in case it really does get shut down.

So if you haven't already, be sure to look into alternate ways of connecting with your readers (Feedly is another option aside from Bloglovin') and be sure to follow me on Bloglovin' if you haven't already!
